Young Artist Program
Foothills Chorale Young Artist Program
Purpose
The Foothills Chorale sponsors a select number of talented young singers as part of its community outreach efforts.
The purpose of the Foothills Chorale Young Artist Program is (1) to foster young singers’ ability and interest in pursuing the choral art and (2) to enhance the leadership skills of young singers in their choral activities.
Benefits for Singers
Young Artists sing and perform with the Foothills Chorale, which typically numbers 30 to 40 adult voices from Pickens, Seneca, and Anderson counties. Each Young Artist is paired with a veteran member of the Chorale who will serve as a mentor.
Young Artists also receive special mention in all Chorale concerts and programs, with their profiles prominently featured.
Young Artists have no financial obligation to the Chorale; the organization pays their dues.
Benefits for Singers' Schools
The Chorale makes a donation of up to $250 to the selected Young Artists’ school music programs. Thus, the Young Artists help build choral excellence in the Upstate.
Expectation of Singers
Young Artists attend Chorale rehearsals every Tuesday from 7:00–9:00 pm, University Lutheran Church, 111 Sloan Street, Clemson, SC.
Personal illness and school conflict are the only acceptable reasons for an absence from the rehearsal schedule. A maximum of two rehearsal absences (for any reason) is allowed per concert season.
